DiaStar is one of the clearest expressions of Rado's material identity. The original 1962 watch used hardmetal and sapphire crystal to create a case that was promoted for scratch resistance at a time when that was unusual in Swiss watchmaking.

That is why DiaStar still feels different today. The broad, shaped bezel, polished surfaces and integrated look are not subtle, but they are unmistakably Rado. Later versions bring the story forward with Ceramos, automatic movements and updated sapphire-crystal shapes.
