Lacoste.12.12 Watches

Lacoste.12.12 turns the house's most recognisable textile code into a watch. The collection borrows the petit-piqué texture of the polo, reducing the idea to a tactile dial, a flexible strap and a crocodile signature that can be read instantly from across the wrist.

The polo translated from fabric into form

Why the numbers matter

The name comes from the original polo created by René Lacoste in 1933: L for Lacoste, 1 for petit piqué, 2 for the two short sleeves and 12 for the number of prototypes. It is an unusually precise piece of brand history, and the watch collection succeeds because it translates that code instead of merely borrowing the logo.

Lacoste carries the polo's finely honeycombed texture onto the watch through a petit-piqué effect on the dial or silicone. The crocodile, often set against a strongly monochrome surface, becomes a point of orientation rather than decoration. Colour does the rest, moving the same restrained shape from court white to blue, black, green or seasonal tones.

Proportion changes the personality

Official references show how the idea shifts between a 42mm men's case and a 36mm women's case, commonly with a three-hand display, silicone strap and 50-metre water resistance. The larger version reads as a graphic sports watch; the smaller one keeps the same texture and colour language but sits closer to a compact everyday accessory.

The wider Lacoste.12.12 family also includes multifunction and mechanical interpretations, so the collection name alone is not a complete specification. Check the full reference, movement, case diameter and strap length. On silicone pieces, inspect the keeper, buckle holes and areas that contact the wrist for shine, cracking or colour transfer.
