Introduction: Rolex Daytona Rainbow
Let’s take a closer look at the Rolex Holy Grail. Occasionally, the Swiss luxury watch brand introduces diamond-encrusted sporty models to demonstrate its expertise in this area. For this reason, only a select group of the brand’s highest-paying customers has access to these models. You can find them in the hands of collectors and high-profile sports stars, as well as businessmen and actors.. There’s a reason the Daytona Rainbow is the most sought-after Rolex watch available.
As far as watch enthusiasts go, the Daytona is a popular choice. Rolex’s platinum version with baguette index hour markers and the John Mayer are among the most sought-after Chronographs in the company’s product line, according to many watch enthusiasts. But the Daytona Rainbow, reference 116595 RBOW, is unquestionably the most exclusive.
Retail and market price
Market: $699,000 + (SAR 2.6m +)
When the Rolex Daytona Rainbow first went on the market, it sold for a price of $96,900 (SAR 363,677). However, the Daytona Rainbow’s secondary market price has risen above USD 350,000 (SAR 1.31m) due to the watch’s high demand among celebrities and its limited production, which resulted in a case diameter of 40mm. Don’t bother asking your AD if the Daytona Rainbow is still available. The odds of solving a Rubik’s Cube in a darkroom are much higher than the odds of purchasing this piece at full retail.
The Daytona Rainbow is currently the most sought-after Rolex watch, and I don’t expect this to change any time soon. After its debut at Baselworld, the timepiece quickly rose to cult status. Rolex’s Cosmograph Daytona “Rainbow” is perhaps the ultimate modern watch collector’s item.
For the first time, the Rainbow Daytona was made available to the general public in 2012. White gold and yellow gold were both available, but the supply of each colour was extremely limited in comparison to the other. For those of you who have always dreamed of combining diamonds and precious sapphire gemstones to form a “rainbow,” this piece is for you! Six years later, Rolex introduced the latest Rainbow Daytona in Everose – the reference 116595RBOW – which was exactly six years after the first.
The Rainbow Rolex Daytona has consistently been the most talked-about and sought-after model in the entire Rolex collection. More to the point, it is one of the most significant.
The Rainbow Rolex is extremely popular. Despite the fact that it is not for everyone, the Rainbow Rolex is one of the most popular Rolex models of the twenty-first century, despite the fact that it receives a great deal of criticism for its cocky attitude.
When it comes to watch collectors, the Rainbow Rolex is a wonderful piece for those who have a deep passion for “blinged-out,” statement-making timepieces.
Watch enthusiasts aren’t the only ones who admire the colourful gem-filled Daytona; celebrities and media moguls alike are also fans of the colourful gem-filled timepiece.
Both the Rainbow Rolex waiting list and the resale value of the timepiece are excellent indicators of its widespread appeal and demand.
Even if you have the financial means to purchase a Rainbow Rolex Daytona, finding one will be the most difficult part of the process. The wait times are ridiculously long.
Rolex Daytona Rainbow Value
The price of a used Rainbow Rolex Daytona can range from $250,000 to more than $400,000, depending on which model it is. Rainbow Rolex prices have tripled, making it one of the best investments for anyone who was able to buy one at full price. There aren’t many investments that can grow this quickly, even if they’re for a high-end watch.
It’s possible to put your name on a list at a store that sells Rolex watches. You’ll have to wait a long time to get your hands on one of these beautiful watches. Because of this, the second-hand market is the best place to look. OR, you can hire a jeweller to make a Rainbow Rolex just for you. As our client did, we tend to agree with him.
Rolex Rainbow Daytona Case
Since its inception as an ostensible tool watch, the Rolex Daytona has always been known for its flashier side. Unlike the Submariner or Explorer, there has been a solid gold option for nearly every one of its references since it was first introduced in 1963.
With the refs. 6269 and 6270, diamond-encrusted bezels appeared in the 1980s, erasing the Daytona’s tachymeter scale’s ability to measure speed, which is typically one of its most recognisable characteristics. In comparison to the Rainbow models, the vintage examples look tame by comparison.
The Rainbow Daytona watches were first released in 2012, six years before the Everose gold version of the watch was released in 2018. However, with the price of these watches no longer being an issue for most buyers, a platinum version is not out of the question in the not too distant future.
The Rainbow Daytona watches are all visually similar, but there are some minor differences between the two older models and the Everose gold edition. Depending on the position of the diamonds, the lugs and crown guards of each reference are coated with 56 brilliant-cut diamonds. ‘Brilliant’ refers to a stone cut into a cone shape with numerous facets, designed to let as much light through as possible and thus provide exceptional brilliance—and the gems festooning the Rainbow Daytona’s extremities do indeed dazzle.
Rolex Rainbow Daytona Dial & Bezel
When we move away from the case and onto the dial, we begin to notice some interesting differences. A total of eight additional brilliant-cut diamonds are placed in square settings for the hour markers on both the yellow gold (ref. 116598RBOW) and white gold (ref. 116599RBOW) models, with Arabic numerals applied to the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions and the Rolex coronet serving as the 12 o’clock marker on both models.
Diamonds have been replaced with sapphires on the most recent Everose gold Rainbow Daytona ref. 116595RBOW, which has baguette and square-cut sapphires (depending on how much space each one has on the dial). Then, why is it so crucial? To answer this question, we need to focus on the truly remarkable bezel.
The Rolex Rainbow Daytona watches are clearly named after their bezels, which feature 36 multicoloured gems. It is because of the incredible attention to detail shown by the setters that these rainbow-colored gemstone bezels are so unique. The colour transitions between stones are seamless, and only possible when backed by the resources of the world’s most famous watchmaker..
It’s for this reason that Everose gold’s baguette-cut sapphire indexes mirror the colour of the stone on the bezel in a significant way. Even if you’re not a fan of the watch itself, you can’t help but admire the level of care and attention that went into making each one.
All three Rainbow Daytona watches were produced in extremely limited quantities because of this. Although Rolex has a lot of money, there are only so many suitable gems in the world and so few gemologists who can select and set these stunning multicoloured stones.
Additional differences exist between the various Rainbow Daytona models. Rolex calls the gold crystal it uses to cover the chronograph counters on its timepieces “gold crystal.” Sub-dial color-coordinated to the gold of the case is what the term refers to, and each of these Rainbow Daytona models receives one of these coloured versions. As a final bonus for Everose editions, the centre links of the Oyster bracelet are coated with diamonds, making this the most blingy version of the watch.
Everose gold is the latest version of the Rainbow Daytona, which was released in 2018.
Rolex Rainbow Daytona Movement
The Rolex Daytona collection, which includes the world’s greatest mechanical stopwatch, is still at the heart of these watches, despite their ostentatious presentation.
The in-house Caliber 4130 movement is in charge of keeping the show on the road! As the successor to the Zenith El Primero, the Daytona’s first automatic calibre, it is widely regarded as one of the finest mass-produced chronograph movements of the modern era.
The Cal. 4130 was unveiled in 2000 after a five-year development period, and it followed Rolex’s customary directive of doing more with less. It has been pared down to the bare essentials for maximum resiliency, with only 201 parts (a 60 per cent reduction from the previous model’s total).
This has been done by the engineers of Rolex in some cases. Caliber 4130 has one module to control both the minute and hour chronograph counters, whereas the previous movement had two separate mechanisms to control these counters (on either side of the movement). Having only one regulating screw instead of five on the El Primero allows for a longer mainspring, resulting in a power reserve of 72 hours rather than the previous 50.
Parachrom hairsprings were introduced in the Rolex Cal. 4130, making it a unique timepiece among the rest. Because it is made by Rolex, the niobium-zirconium alloy with a blue oxide coating is virtually immune to the effects of magnetism and temperature variations, two of the biggest enemies of mechanical movements and their accuracy. Another benefit of the newer hairsprings is that they have a 10 times greater shock resistance than older, conventional hairsprings.
The introduction of a vertical clutch for the chronograph is perhaps the most significant advancement. As a result, it can be used for long periods of time without affecting the model’s timekeeping, and it has the advantage of providing extremely precise starts and stops of the second hand without the judder or “handslop” that is sometimes associated with the more-common horizontal coupling system.
And unlike many of its rivals, Rolex has designed the clutch unit to be easily serviced by the wearer. In order to maintain the accuracy of the module and extend the life of its components, it is possible to remove, disassemble, lubricate, and replace it with ease. Rainbow Daytona watches are all classified as Superlative Chronometers, which means they go above and beyond the already rigorous timekeeping specifications required for COSC certification. Rainbow Daytona watches (the gold standard when it comes to movement accuracy).

Who Wears the Rainbow Daytona?
It’s a diverse group of celebrities who’ve chosen the Rolex Rainbow Daytona, but they all have one thing in common: an outgoing, outspoken demeanour.
Musicians John Mayer and Adam Levine are also big fans of the Rainbow Daytona watch, which Post Malone wears on stage and in the studio. Kevin Hart, Mark Wahlberg, and Miley Cyrus are all fans of the Rainbow Daytona, which has been seen on celebrities like Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg.
Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers show off the Everose gold edition. The French soccer star, Antoine Griezmann purchased an Everose gold Rainbow Daytona to celebrate his move to Barcelona from Atlético Madrid.
The greatest of all is unquestionably Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o, who played for both Manchester United and Cameroon. The only white gold model with a full diamond pavé dial and blue enamel Arabic numerals instead of the usual jewelled indexes is said to have been specially commissioned by Rolex for him.
By any standard, the Rolex Rainbow Daytona models are stunning and incredible timepieces. Beyond their undeniable talent and eye-popping cost is a quality you wouldn’t normally associate with Rolex: fun.
Rolex, a company known for its traditional values, is taking advantage of a rare opportunity to let its hair down and have some fun, thanks to some of the industry’s most talented jewellers and an almost limitless budget. As a result, the final product is both lavish and refined. For those who have the self-assurance (and bank account) to pull it off, there is nothing else like a Rolex Rainbow Daytona watch to catch the eye.
